Keep On Dancing Michael Jackson

Now. It's been about a week or so since Michael Jackson died. I still find myself bumpin those good ol' tunes of MJ.

To be completely honest. I never was a big fan. Or a fan to SAY "MJ influenced my musical life." but as I think about how the world is waking up to a Michael-less world, he has influenced my musical life. Those artistes I've grown up to all say "Michael Jackson was my role model growing up." Without him, perhaps majority of these artists now and days would have never been as amazing as some of them are. I bet if Michael Jackson was never around, half of the artists today would be doing a 9 - 5 job.

Not only did he influence the music industry. But he also influenced the world of dance. His slick moves have inspired people to just get up and try out what the hell his feet were doing. From the moon walk to the glide he does. People just want to try what he does and that leads some people into actually pursing a life in dance.

Strictly speaking about my exposure to him, I never realized how many songs of his I really did grow up with. From cartoons covering his songs to commercials featuring samples of his songs. I found myself looking up some of his songs and realizing I knew a lot of his songs. I always just thought of him as the man who wore only one glove, high water pants and a red leather jacket. Much too young to truly appreciate how great this man was.

Sadly enough, throughout the 90s Michael Jackson was bombarded with scandals and ridicule such as the child molestation allegations. Do i believe he did it? I dont know, I try not to think about it. Its either he did do it and his fame got him out of jail OR he didn't do it, and the ones accusing him were just trying to earn a quick buck. Either way it sucks. It also didn't help when rumors were going around about how Michael Jackson wanted to be white but in reality he had Vitiligo (a skin disease which changes the pigment of your skin). His cosmetic procedures is also a key to the ridicule of the media. Yes, he under went many many many surgeries. But was trying to make himself happy. Did it work? Who knows. The man was trying to find a slice of happiness in his chaotic life. Leave him be.

All in all, Michael Jackson went from this musical pop icon to what America likes to call a pedophile. He was physically abused as a child by his father and was mentally abused by the public throughout the rest of his life. Now I'm not gonna sit here and lie to you. I did partake in the Michael Jackson jokes ("keep you're kids away from MJ" or "Wacko Jacko"). However, in the last week the world is in mourn and people who were publicly making fun of Jackson in their shows and their music is now saying "he was the greatest man ever". That's kinda annoying. Where were those people when he was alive? But now that he's dead, their perception of him has changed. I guess our world really didnt know what we had until he left.

So heres to you King of Pop. For influencing the tens and millions of aspiring singers and dancers. For sharing the music you brought. For inspiring people to dream big. For leaving a legacy which will never be replaced. Thank you. You are an icon. You are a legend. You are the King of Pop Michael Joseph Jackson. Thank You.

How to Install Love

Look what i found on the internet =)

Tech Support: Hello … how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I’ve decided to install
Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I’m not very technical, but I think I’m ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you
located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now.
Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support:
What programs are running ?

Customer: Let’s see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge
and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt
from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent
memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will
eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High
Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and
Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed.
Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke
Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and
Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that
normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base
program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get
the upgrades.

Customer:
Oops! I have an error message already. It says, “Error
- Program not run on external components.” What should I do?

Tech Support: Don’t worry. It means that the Love program is set
up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In
non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before
you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support:
Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the
following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your
Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the “My Heart” directory. The
system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty
programming. Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all
directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely
gone and never comes back.

Customer:
Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files.
Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying
themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but
eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed
and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure
to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in
turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you, God.

Filipinos

Hello World,

Well I realized i haven't updated this in a very very long time... But thats okay.

So I chose to make this blog with the decision not to talk about my own personal life. Therefore I wont. But for the past few weeks I've found myself exploring my own heritage. And what do you know... May is Asian-Pacific Islander Month.

Lately Filipinos have been popping into my life. From the musicians, to the heroes, to the boxers. It all just seems to come up at once.

From experiencing Northwest FASA Conference, i got to learn a whole load of being Filipino. I dont wanna go too much into it cause it'll take up this whole blog.

On Saturday, May 2, 2009. This was the big fight for Filipinos. This is what makes everyone come together and watch. Manny Pacquiao vs. Ricky Hatton. This is what makes Filipinos proud. This is what makes everyone come together. To watch a Filipino man become a spectical around the world. this is what we want. This is our pride.... is it?

Now. Dont get me wrong, HELL YEAH I'm happy Pacquiao won. and HELL YEAH I'm proud to finally see Filipinos making it big in life!! But on Saturday night, I wasnt one of the Filipinos who gathered around the TV to watch the fight...which really lasted for only 6 mintues.... No. I was in Seattle watching Fil-Night.

Fil-Night is a production put on by the Filipino American Student Association (FASA) at UW Seattle. The play the put on showed the differences between the generations of Filipinos; the relationship of a father and daughter; the struggles of the poor; and of course the all time favorite, romance. Filipinos' love for dance and music were also incorporated into the play. I loved the whole production of Fil-Night. The feeling of knowing a little bit more about you're heritage always is refreshing.

So while everyone on Saturday night was proud of that 2 round fight. I was proud of my friends and family who were all on that stage. My Filipino pride isnt just a boxer who knocked the shit out of his opponent in only TWO rounds. My pride is seeing those I love on stage demonstrating that we haven't forgotten our roots.

What a sentimental blog.
For real though.

Mr. President Barack Husseian Obama

What a historically beautiful day! Today for the first time EVER in America, we the people can welcome a minority into the oval office! How exciting! I only had one class today at school... and it was during the time of the inauguration... BUT I caught his speech online. If you guys missed it... here it is!

Part 1

Part 2

I can't garentee how long these videos will be on youtube... but here they are!

Obama has changed the history books and it was AMAZING to be able to soak it in. I am a part of history to witness this. You are a part of history to witness this!

I have a gut feeling things will be different. Perhaps because I feel Obama is a more like the American people today than any other president. For one, his family is different from all the other presidents. He is an African American, his mother was a white American from the Midwest, his father was an African man from Kenya, his half sister (from his mother's side) is half Indonesian and half white, he has plenty plently more siblings in Kenya form his father. Seriously, how diverse can one family get?

Top picture: Pres. Obama with Maya Soetoro-Ng (Half Sister)
Bottom Picture: Pres. Obama with Brothers and Sisters on fathers side

His own past is very intriguing in itself. Born and raised in Hawaii, lived in Indonesia for 4 years and even learned the language while he was there. He has interacted with different religions and races. The fact he is open minded about everything makes it seem like America is in the good hands of a man who sees eye to eye with those Americans who feel like they've been ignored for the past 8 years.

Like it or not. Change is Here.

So I got two little side notes.
So I was having dinner with my little brother and he was telling me how they watched the inauguration at school today. He told me that a couple of his classmates were being "mean" to Obama. I asked him how. and you know what he told me one little boy said???
"Obama is going to bring terrorist in to America"
So how does little 9 year old boy learn this????
His stupid ignorant racist parents.
Why the hell would you teach a child that Obama is going to bring terrorist??? Because of his name? I hate ignorant people to the max. especailly closed minded ones who inflict their children with their views which are degrading to others.

You are teaching your child to be a little fuck.
Go you.

Ending this post on a happier note.
The Obama Family

What a fashionable family.

Did you guys see the Obama girls?
Cuties. Definite Cuties.

Bye loves,
Cyril
